Merlin 2.7.4 (Free of charge update!)

A new Merlin and Merlin Server version, 2.7.4,  is now available. Both updates are  free downloads for license holders of Merlin 2 and Merlin Server 2

Important: You need to install Merlin 2.7.4 in order to use Mac OS X 10.6.2! Previous Merlin versions does not work with Mac OS X 10.6.2 and later.

New Features

  • Added support for Mac OS 10.6.2.
  • Added preference for including quick look previews in documents. With this the sizes of all templates are reduced massively.
  • Adding AppleScript support for expected start and end dates.

Resolved Issues in Merlin

  • Improved UPnP port forwarding.
  • Improved locking of project files between Merlin and Merlin Server.
  • Merlin Server: Authenticating against Merlin Server in the remote open dialog required a case-sensitive user name.
  • Merlin Web: The login dialog now works in compatibilty mode of MS Internet Explorer 8.
  • MerlinWeb: Improved performance when switching between column sets or workspaces.
  • Merlin now works even if it cannot connect to the sync services.
  • Fixed problem with MPP import under Mac OS 10.6.
  • Fixed problems with OPML and CSV under Mac OS 10.6.
  • Fixed problem with setting actual dates of milestones.
  • Improved loading of linked projects from Merlin Server.
  • Under some circumstances, shared projects were not visible in the remote open dialog.
  • Fixed a refresh problem in the licensing panel.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur during printing.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur during importing of XML documents.
  • Under some circumstances, the stand-alone inspector window did not register changes made in the comments area .
  • A few translation issues are fixed.
  • The German and English help files are updated.

  1. I’m using Merlin 2.7.3 on OS 10.4.11 – should I update to 2.7.4 or is this only for OS 10.6.2?

  3. I have a licensed version of 2.7.1 on 10.6.1 and I downloaded the update, but I get a message that the image is corrupt. It also fails to update from within Merlin2 as well. Any thoughts?

  4. Hmm… anti virus software active or transfer problems? Please try downloading Merlin 2 from another mac and transfer it on an USB stick…

  6. I wonder if other Merlin users have found good sources of Microsoft Office Project type template files for things like writing a non-fiction book, starting a new business, making a movie, etc.

    Also, it was interesting that some MS Project templates I found with .MPT extension are not recognized by Merlin (even when Finder is told to use Merlin for them) but Merlin imported them fine with .MPP . Would be smart to include MPT in the supported import extensions in Merlin.

  7. I have tried downloading the trial Merlin2 dmg file. When I do, I get an error message saying the disk is not recognised on my new MAC with Lion OS. Can you advise? Is it a problem with Lion OS?

  9. Hi I have the same problem as Dave’s..except for the Lion OS. I’m using Snow Leopard.. I tried downloading and installing many times but still the same outcome.. Hope you can help me..
