Merlin – change the preselected project calendar

Merlin provides a user friendly interface to modifying the project calendar.

Project calendar can be accessed in a tab of the inspector when the top most row (row “#0”) in the activities view is selected.

In the “Regular” tab you may modify the work intervals of the working week days if required.

You may also choose to change the preselected project calendar all together and switch from “Standard” to “Night Shift” for example.

Just select the desired project calendar from the appropriate pop up on the top right area of the inspector and make it your main project calendar afterward.

Please find hereafter a screencast of those actions

  1. Hi,

I’d like to know how to proceed to modify resources calendars. I’ve seen the Inspector, but I need to be more detailed than an half hour. I need for example to input that Mr Jones is working every monday from 6:45 to 8:45 then from 9:10 to 12:25.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Best regards

  2. 6:45 to 8:45 is possible. Just press alt key while defining the working intervals to move the time in 15 minutes steps.

For 9:10 to 12:25, one would need to export the calendar (gears symbol > export resource calendar), edit the xml file in a text editor to enter the exact 10 or 25 minutes and reimport (gears symbol > import resource calendar).

    Best regards, Vicky

PS. However even though this is possible, do you really need to define your resources’ accessibility times that detailed? Is it for your project and its activities critical to know, that between 8:45 and 9:10 no works may occur?

  3. achievement not open the inspector working time, I click on row 0 and does not open anything, as I can do it ‘

  4. that means the info area is closed. Click first on the white ‘i’ in the light blue circle (or select Window > Show Info area) and then click on row 0.

    Best regards, Vicky

  5. Hi Vicky,

I need to create a 7 days working week calendar for the whole project. I have problem making the week end a working day.

  6. Hi Jac,

if you cannot use the predefined 24×7 calendar, just modify the standard calendar. So click first the day in question (i.e. Saturday) and draw afterwards the correct working intervals with the mouse.
