One lays a bit longer in bed at Christmas, and finds the new year already in full swing when awaking. But wait. Our hibernation was not that deep, we simply granted ourselves a short break. 2009 was after all the most active year in our young history.

Directly on its begin, January 2009, we were in the Macworld and presented Merlin iPhone to the interested visitors.

In February 2009 the beta test of Merlin 2.7 started containing the new version of Merlin Web. A Merlin Twitter presence was also created, with over 750 followers meanwhile.

In March 2009 our Merlin iPhone odyssey began. Committed on Match 13, not presented in the App Store before the end of the month. Our program was rejected three times due to an avoidable ‘chicken or the egg’ dilemma.

On April 8, 2009, Merlin iPhone got finally accepted and is listed ever since in the App Store.

In May 2009, on the 15th to be precise, appeared the 2.7er series. A portfolio was provided allowing a whole new set of various different applications for Merlin. To round up our services a new website was launched within the same month.

In June 2009 we took part in the WWDC – for our developer surely a very important event of the year. With MerlinDayliteLink, a long awaited and important connection to Daylite, a link was created between our project management software and the CRM system of Marketcircle. To the already existing large list of Merlin connections to other programs,  a new important bridge to our partners from LGO-Consulting was added.

In July 2009 everything was focussed on Snow Leopard, the new operating system of Apple. Merlin was good prepared, special versions for the new OS were available.

In August 2009 we planned necessary preparations for the end of the year. No time for summer slump. The most active phase of the year started.

First announcements leaked out in September 2009. Some hints got posted about Merlin’s birthday and a German book.

In October 2009 stared the birthday’s quarter. It was accompanied by various events in Germany (PM forum in Berlin, Mac Business Forum in Mainz).

Merlin had its next highlight in November 2009 as it turned 5. Version 1.0 was released on November 9, 2004! We celebrated the birthday by a big prizes draw. The German book for Merlin was published by the Hanser Editions.

The crowning glory was made by the boxed version of Merlin in December 2009. One day before Christmas arrived the news from our distributor Application Systems Heidelberg, that first deliveries were sent to Merlin software dealers.

As you see, 2009 was not a dull year at all. And also economically, we cannot complain. I would not say that the economic crisis is not existing for us. But the fact that we increased our last year’s revenue and were able to hire new employees in 2009, surely tells a lot.

So, how do we continue in this year? In the usual tempo! Really, we plan great things for this year to. Of course, I can not tell too much at this point (there should always be some space for surprise left), here a few tips thought:

• The prices draw of our birthday action will take place on January 7th.
• For once in our history we won’t be in the Macworld, even though I will be in San Francisco during the fair.
• ProjectWizards are co-sponsoring the cult party “Cirque du Mac” (Macworld)
• We will be presenting Merlin in CeBit 2010 (German computer fair).
• There will be trainings, events and  more actions about Merlin.
• And what about Merlin? Yes of course, new great things will happen to Merlin as well 😉
