Merlin 2.9 update with support for OS X 10.8

Today we’ve released a new free Merlin update. The Merlin 2.9 update brings various improvements and more stability. It is recommended for all Merlin and Merlin Server users.

How to update Merlin Server

    • Merlin and Merlin Server support new Gatekeeper and start on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion as identified software.

With Mountain Lion Apple introduces a new technology called “Gatekeeper”. Gatekeeper helps protect you from downloading and installing malicious software on your Mac, no matter where your apps come from. And it gives you even more control over which apps you install. With the standard option Gatekeeper installs only apps from the Mac App Store and apps from identified developers. Merlin and Merlin Server are now signed by ProjectWizards as an indentified developer and working with the Gatekeeper default option under OS X Mountain Lion.

We highly recommend users of OS X Mountain Lion to install this update.

Updating existing installations of Merlin Server: The formerly contained certificate is now replaced by the new one verified by Apple. Therefore the very first time you start Merlin Server, you will be asked to allow accessing Keychain for the existing certificate to be replaced. Please click on “Allow always”.

Resolved Issues in Merlin

  1. Je ne parviens pas a telecharger Merlin 2.9 sur mon PC. Pourriez vous me le permettre S.V.P. ?

  2. We started up the Merlin software and the update information box came up. We downloaded the update and it said to install and restart which we allowed. Now merlin icon is a forever bouncing piece of paper with a ruler, paintbrush and pencil.

It will not open any more. Please help with this issue, as it needs to be resolved ASAP.

  3. Hello ‘Diploma of human resources management ‘
and thank you for your interest in Merlin.

Merlin is the leading project management software for Mac OS X. If you are familiar with MS Project on Windows you will find it an alternative when managing projects on your Mac.

As a single Merlin user, you install Merlin on your Mac, create your projects locally, import, export, report, print and edit them.
If you are working on the same projects in a small team, less than 5 users, you can use a Merlin to open and share the projects. Other Merlin users in the team can remote open the shared project and edit as required.

If you want to grant access to non Merlin users you can use a Merlin to share projects for web access. So while you are editing the project on your Mac, you allow users to access/edit the same project over their web browser.

If you want to have your project on your iOS device on the go, you leave your Mac at home, open the project, share for iPhone, transfer on the iOS app to be able to view it there.
If you want to be able to edit the project over the iOS app, you leave your mac at home running and make sure you can access it over the internet (mobile data network).

Web and iPhone sharing are optional features and require additional Merlin licenses.
Teams of 5 users or more, use Merlin Server to share their projects. Merlin Server license covers project sharing among Merlin users, Web browsers and iOS devices.

  4. We currently have a licensed Merlin software that is on a MacMini running on Mountain Lion server. We now want to upgrade to mavericks on that computer. Can we do this without losing the server capability of Merlin? I do not see any post on this so far.

  5. By ‘Merlin’, is it a ‘Merlin for Mac OS X’ application or ‘Merlin Server’?
Anyhow, sure you may update your OS X if you require to do so.
You should also make sure you update your Merlin or Merlin Server accordingly and contact our support if encounter any issues.

    Best regards, Vicky
