Did you know? I had not until now. You can import iCal calendar onto your project or resource calendars and get the entries added as exceptions. Cool, isn’t it?
For those of you, like me, not knowing this functionality until now, here is how to proceed:
- You locate the iCal calendar you want to import(*) to your Merlin project.
- Open your Merlin project, select the top most entry in the outline, switch to the ‘Working Time’ tab on the inspector, click onto the gear symbol and call ‘Import…’.
- Make sure that the option ‘Only Merge Exceptions’ is set. Select the ics calendar file and press ‘Import’.
- Check the exceptions in Merlin’s calendar…
Easy, isn’t it? 🙂

*) The ‘US Holiday Calendar 1.0’ was supplied by Apple. It is a calendar subscription. For the purposes of this post, I have exported it from iCal as an ics file to my desktop.

Hi. Im considering purchasing Merlin2. However, this function is not working for me. I am using Mountain lion operation system and the trial version of Merlin2.
Everytime i try this function, Merlin2 crashes on step number 2 of this guide.
Any solution for this?
Thanks.
Hello Pedro and thanks for your comment.
Merlin crashes on the second step?
When exactly?
When you select the top most row of your project?
When you switch to the ‘working time’ tab?
When you click onto the ‘gear’and select import?
Or maybe after…
We’ve tested importing an ics just now, and it worked fine.
Are you using the latest Merlin version, i.e. 2.9?
Best regards, Vicky
