Merlin: Wrap text to next line

Have you came across this situation? You enter long titles for your activities or activity groups and notice that the column width is not wide enough to display the complete text. So you enlarge the column to get the whole text visible and ‘steal’ space from your Gantt. Not a very good solution, your monitor has a defined resolution after all, and you cannot expand Merlin’s window for ever…

Well this is a problem you do not really need to cope with. How?

Simply call the ‘View Options…’ and switch to the ‘Styles’ tab. Click onto the gray area in sample, and make sure that the ‘row’ has been selected. Use the slider to define a higher minimum height:

Easy and effective, isn’t?

  2. Is there a key command or button that will slide the gantt chart all the way to where the bar for a selected task can be seen? This is a common feature in all of the other scheduling software that I have used (MS Project, Open Project, FastTrack, and SureTrack to name a few). If it does not exist, can you write an Apple Script for it, as it is very annoying having to slide back and forth without precision between tasks in the gantt chart. Thanks

  3. Hi Ric, this feature is not implemented but forwarded to the management. Eventhough Applescript can bring a dialog it is not implemented to control the user interface, but to handle data. Sorry.

  4. Is there a way to adjust the height of the rows for Elements? I am trying to type in the text box for a checklist and cannot get the text to wrap as the “Style” option to adjust the height is not present under Elements. Thanks

  5. Hi Julie, and thanks for your comment.
The height of the element rows is not adjustable. To edit the checklist entries, please use the ‘Checklist’ inspector.

    Best regards, Vicky

  6. This is stupid. Now all the rows are too wide, I only want it to auto-adjust for the ones that need it. Boo!
