The iPad2 and Project Management

Last year when Apple unveiled the iPad, I, along with countless others were overcome with that all too familiar craving for new gear from Cupertino. Having tried and quickly abandoned several tablets running the other operating system, I was hopeful that the iPad would gain the acceptance it has rightfully earned, but as a project manager, I was mostly curious about how this new device would fit in with my job. The Windows tablets I had tried in the past always seemed to make my job harder. So, when I purchased it, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do it… but like I said… The craving…

Since then I’ve found a number of ways the original iPad enables me in managing projects and best of all, I’m able to use it with Merlin. And now, we have the iPad 2. Continue reading

WWDC 2010

These are some of the photos we’ve got from our developers attending this year’s WWDC:

SF: the cheesecake factory SF: Golden Gate

Does this sound like my parents went to Saint Francisco and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt? 😉

Not a fitting comparison if you ask me… We are very excited and looking forward to hearing from them upon their return. There is surely so much to tell about interesting new developments, attended workshops, new connections to other developers or the applications presented and how all this new knowledge and experience can influence Merlin‘s further development.

Merlin Projects on iPhone

We have submitted the next update for Merlin on the iPhone to the App Store and wait for its approval.

It will carry the version number 1.0.4 and includes the following issue fixes:

  • The iPhone app has now a new icon and a new title. Its former title “Merlin” is now part of the icon and the application itself is called “Projects”; so it reads “Merlin Projects”.
  • The navigation view is now properly positioned even after cancelling the image picker in the file elements view.
  • Under some circumstances it was not possible to enter the completion percentage.
  • Added a workaround for a bug in the 3.2 beta version of the iPhone SDK.
  • The Gantt view wasn’t refreshed after a sync operation.
  • Under some circumstances Merlin iPhone did crash on start.
  • The stability in general is improved.

We hope Apple approves the new update of Merlin iPhone quickly, and it is soon available in the App Store for download.

Update: The update 1.0.4 is now available in the App Store and recommended for all Merlin iPhone 1.0.3 users.

Hello 2010, bye bye 2009!

One lays a bit longer in bed at Christmas, and finds the new year already in full swing when awaking. But wait. Our hibernation was not that deep, we simply granted ourselves a short break. 2009 was after all the most active year in our young history.

Directly on its begin, January 2009, we were in the Macworld and presented Merlin iPhone to the interested visitors.

In February 2009 the beta test of Merlin 2.7 started containing the new version of Merlin Web. A Merlin Twitter presence was also created, with over 750 followers meanwhile.
