Hello 2010, bye bye 2009!

One lays a bit longer in bed at Christmas, and finds the new year already in full swing when awaking. But wait. Our hibernation was not that deep, we simply granted ourselves a short break. 2009 was after all the most active year in our young history.

Directly on its begin, January 2009, we were in the Macworld and presented Merlin iPhone to the interested visitors.

In February 2009 the beta test of Merlin 2.7 started containing the new version of Merlin Web. A Merlin Twitter presence was also created, with over 750 followers meanwhile.

Shortly before Christmas, there is a little surprise for the friends of our wizard. Application Systems Heidelberg has just published the following:

The recent Merlin version 2.7 – published by Application Systems and the German vendor ProjectWizards – can be used as standalone or optionally server-based-software and is compatible to desktops, MacBooks or Apple iPhone.

Merlin: Melting Clocks

What is time? An illusion for some. What is time when planning a project? Double so…
There seams to be so much of it when entering activities or assigning resources, while deadlines come almost always earlier than expected…

Merlin: Adjusting keyboard shortcuts

It is very easy to adjust keyboard shortcuts or add new ones on Mac OS X. There is a specific tab in the preference pane ‘Keyboard’. Shortcuts will be shown on the right side of the menu entries they are assigned to.

The shortcut Shift + Command + N for example is assigned per default to the Merlin’s menu entry ‘New Project…’ as listed under the File menu:

Surely you have noticed that the command  ‘Combine Projects…’ has no shortcut. Here is how to proceed in case you want to assign one.

Merlin: MacOS X Firewall

As you know Merlin has very powerful publishing features that allow you to publish your project files, and share them with other users or other applications.

When allowing external access to your machine you should consider setting up a Firewall. This is usually done in your router, but some users would like to use the built-in MacOS X Firewall. Here is a small description of how to set your Firewall for Merlin 2 and Merlin Server 2 on a current MacOS X 10.6.1 (snow leopard) configuration.
